McDonald Inducted into College Baseball Hall

LUBBOCK, Texas — Former LSU pitcher Ben McDonald, the 1989 Golden Spikes Award winner, was inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame during Fourth of July weekend festivities in Lubbock. McDonald is one of 12 players and coaches comprising the 2008 induction class.

Mainieri Named Coach of the Year by Rivals.com

The transformation to LSU is complete for coach Paul Mainieri. When LSU officials approached their Notre Dame counterparts after the 2006 season with hopes of luring Mainieri to Baton Rouge, his decision wasn't easy. Mainieri was comfortable at Notre Dame, but also was well aware of the baseball tradition at LSU.

BATON ROUGE — LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri announced changes to his staff Thursday, including the hiring of Michigan State head coach David Grewe (GREW-ee) as the Tigers' associate head coach. Grewe, 32,  a former assistant under Mainieri at Notre Dame, will serve as LSU's pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
